Tip is recommended that you always synchronize when you log on to your computer. This ensures that changes made on your computer are synchronized with changes that were made on the network while you were disconnected.

Note The When I Log On To My Computer and the When I Log Off My Computer check boxes are selected by default if you selected the Synchronize All Offline Files When Logging On or Synchronize All Offline Files Before Logging Off options, respectively, in the Offline Files tab in the Folder Options dialog box. These options are part of the Configure computers to use Offline Files procedure.

The persistence.xml deployment descriptor defines the identities and configuration properties of each persistence unit described within it. Each persistence unit must have an identity, although the empty string is a valid name. The set of classes that belong to the persistence unit can be specified, or you can opt for the persistence provider to scan the JAR file automatically for the set of classes to deploy as entities. When scanning is used, the persistence provider will look at every class file within the JAR to determine whether it is annotated with the @javax.persistence.Entity annotation, and if it is, it will add it to the set of entities that must be mapped. Each persistence unit is tied to one and only one data source. In Java SE environments, vendor-specific configuration must be used to define and configure these data sources. In Java EE environments, specific XML elements define this association. The root of the persistence.xml XML schema is the <persistence> element, which contains one or more <persistence-unit> elements. Each <persistence-unit> has two attributes: name (required) and transaction-type (optional). The subelements of <persistence-unit> are <description> (optional), <provider> (optional), <jta-datasource> (optional), <non-jta-data-source> (optional), <mapping-file> (optional), <jarfile> (optional), <class> (optional), <properties> (optional), and <exclude-unlistedclasses> (optional). 6. Select the Ask Me Before Synchronizing The Items check box if you want Synchro nization Manager to request permission before automatically synchronizing your offline items. 7. Click OK. 8. In the Items To Synchronize dialog box, click Close. You can also specify items to be synchronized when a computer is idle by using the On Idle tab in the Synchronization Settings dialog box. By choosing when offline items are synchronized, you can better manage the work on your computer and on the network. Finally, you can schedule when synchronization occurs by using the Scheduled Syn chronization Wizard, available from the Scheduled tab in the Synchronization Settings dialog box.
